Bengaluru cab driver arrested for allegedly killing seven family members

A cab driver, identified as Indushekar (also known as Shekar), has been arrested by Bengaluru police for the alleged mass murder of seven members of his wife’s family. The victims include his wife, Sunitha, her mother Roopavati, brothers-in-law Shivakumar and Shankar, sisters-in-law Divya and Nalini, and a seven-year-old boy, Puneeth.

Preliminary investigations suggest the killings were motivated by domestic disputes regarding Sunitha’s frequent visits to her parental home. Police believe the accused pre-planned the crimes, allegedly killing the victims one by one at his residence using a grinding stone. To avoid suspicion, he reportedly told neighbors that Sunitha was on a trip with friends and used the victims' mobile phones to send messages suggesting they were traveling.

Following the murders, the accused allegedly used chemicals to clean bloodstains at the crime scene and transported the bodies in his car to various locations, including Nandi Hills and Chamundi Hills. The crime was discovered after a missing person report was filed by Nalini’s mother. While the body of seven-year-old Puneeth has been recovered near Nandi Hills, search operations continue to locate the remaining victims.
