Bengaluru businessman kidnapped and robbed of Rs 1.09 crore

Businessman R I Shiva Shankar, 41, who runs a scooter agency in Bengaluru, was allegedly lured by contacts promising an investment in the American Nuclear Research System. He handed over ₹35 lakh on June 13 and was later asked to collect ₹74 lakh on June 15. While driving back with his driver near Kuduregere Colony in Dasanapura Hobli, an SUV blocked their car and four armed men forced them at gunpoint into another vehicle. The gang stole the ₹74 lakh from the car’s boot and later sent members to his house, where they took another ₹35 lakh from his wife, totaling a loss of about ₹1.09 crore. The victims were released near Nelamangala. Madanayakanahalli police have registered a case under sections dealing with kidnapping for ransom and dacoity and are investigating possible insider knowledge of the cash movement. No arrests have been reported yet.
