Bengaluru counterfeit medicine racket uncovered; pharmacy owner arrested

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) and the Drugs Control Department have uncovered a large-scale counterfeit medicine racket in Bengaluru. During a raid on Krupa Healthcare near Minerva Circle, authorities seized a significant stock of suspected counterfeit drugs, including cancer medications and ICU injections.

Investigators allege that expired or low-cost medicines were repackaged into new containers with forged labels to imitate reputable pharmaceutical brands. These products were reportedly sold to approximately 90 hospitals and clinics across Bengaluru at discounts of up to 50 percent.

Veeresh Kumar Jain, the owner of Krupa Healthcare, has been arrested. Authorities are currently investigating the role of several medical representatives in the distribution network. The SIT is also tracking an alleged kingpin named Prashant, who remains at large. The investigation is expanding to include other Indian states, including Karnataka, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra.
