Bengaluru court orders SIT probe into witness threats in Prajwal Revanna trial
A special court in Bengaluru has ordered the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate allegations of threat calls received by a prosecution witness in the sexual assault trial of former MP Prajwal Revanna.
During cross-examination on August 20, a 43-year-old social worker testified that she received threatening phone calls following her initial examination in July. The witness stated that if any harm comes to her or her son, Revanna should be held responsible. In response, the court directed the SIT to probe the threats, ensure the witness receives legal protection, and submit a report by the next hearing.
Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, was sentenced to life imprisonment in August 2025 for rape and is currently serving his sentence in Parappana Agrahara prison.
