Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byregowda pushes footpath clearance and agency coordination

Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byregowda inspected the Outer Ring Road corridor from Silk Board to Baiyappanahalli, directing officials to accelerate road, drainage and footpath upgrades under the B‑SMILE project. He defended the ongoing footpath clearance drive, emphasizing that pedestrian safety cannot be compromised and urging street‑vendors to relocate off major footpaths.

Byregowda also highlighted the long‑standing lack of coordination among civic agencies, calling for a permanent institutional solution through the Greater Bengaluru Authority Executive Committee. He warned that fragmented planning leads to duplicated work, wasted public funds and inconvenience for citizens, and stressed the need for unified design and timely execution of infrastructure projects.
