Bengaluru East City Corporation orders urgent drainage and road repairs

Officials from the Bengaluru East City Corporation have ordered urgent infrastructure maintenance and cleanup operations across several areas in Bengaluru to address drainage issues and road damage.

In response to rainwater stagnation, Additional Commissioner Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar directed the immediate removal of silt and mud at the Panathur S-Cross railway underpass and the cleanup of the Munnekollal stormwater drain. Instructions were also issued to ensure water-pumping systems remain operational and to clear manholes connected to the K-RIDE drainage system.

Separately, Commissioner DS Ramesh inspected Gunjur and Varthur junctions, ordering immediate pothole repairs to alleviate traffic congestion. The inspection included addressing culvert slabs, managing waste accumulation, and reviewing rehabilitation measures for residents near the Sheelavanta Lake buffer zone. Local MP PC Mohan emphasized the need to prioritize these works due to the high density of schools along the Varthur-Gunjur corridor.
