Bengaluru faces high temperatures and UV radiation alerts

Bengaluru is experiencing unseasonably high temperatures and high ultraviolet (UV) radiation. While September typically brings cooler weather and rain, recent recordings show maximum temperatures reaching approximately 32 degrees Celsius, making the month feel more like the peak summer period of April.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a poor monsoon has contributed to this temperature rise. In addition to the heat, meteorologists have issued alerts for high UV radiation across much of Karnataka, including Bengaluru. This is attributed to the city's elevation of 3,000 feet, which results in high radiation and moisture evaporation due to a lack of cloud cover and water vapor.

Forecasts suggest that Bengaluru may see generally cloudy skies and light rains in the coming days, with temperatures expected to fluctuate between 21 and 33 degrees Celsius. This pattern of cloudy skies and light rain is predicted to continue through at least September 13, though no official weather warnings have been issued for the week.
