Bengaluru hit by heavy rain and flooding
Heavy rainfall has caused significant waterlogging and infrastructure damage in Bengaluru, leading to a wall collapse in the Domlur area. The collapse of a military compound wall resulted in the deaths of several cows and a calf, and left a local resident seriously injured with leg fractures.
Multiple areas across the city, including Koramangala, Whitefield, and various flyovers, experienced flooding that disrupted traffic and forced commuters to wade through water. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for eight districts, including Bengaluru, forecasting continued widespread rainfall across coastal, Malnad, and interior districts of Karnataka due to the southwest monsoon and a low-pressure area.
Authorities, including the State and National Disaster Response Forces, have been deployed for rescue and relief operations. The IMD has also warned of rough sea conditions, advising fishermen to remain ashore.
