Bengaluru implements phased traffic restrictions on major flyovers

Bengaluru traffic police are implementing phased vehicle restrictions across five major flyovers and elevated corridors to improve road safety and ease congestion. Minister Priyank Kharge announced that while restrictions are already functioning smoothly on the BGS, Peenya, and Double Decker flyovers, new measures are being introduced for the International Airport Road elevated corridor and the Electronic City elevated corridor.

On the International Airport Road elevated corridor, spanning from Sanjeevini Nagar Cross to Vidyashilpa Junction, restrictions on goods vehicles will continue. However, two-wheelers and auto-rickshaws will now be permitted to use the corridor. To maintain order, police have advised motorcyclists to use the left lanes, maintain lane discipline, avoid dangerous overtaking, and adhere to a speed limit of 60 km/h.

Additionally, phased restrictions are set to begin on the Electronic City elevated corridor starting September 11, 2026, with similar measures targeting goods vehicles to prevent traffic conflicts and congestion on the lower-level roads.
