Bengaluru lawyer shot dead by tenants following rent dispute

A 42-year-old advocate named Manjunath was shot dead at his residence in Pattandur Agrahara, near Whitefield, Bengaluru, late Sunday night. The victim sustained three bullet injuries, including one to the forehead and two to the chest.

Preliminary investigations suggest the shooting was triggered by a dispute over unpaid rent. The suspects, identified as tenants who work as delivery personnel for Swiggy, allegedly contacted the victim to say they were bringing the outstanding money. Upon their arrival around midnight, one suspect reportedly pretended to hand over the payment while the other opened fire.

Manjunath, a property owner who rented labor sheds to migrant workers, was rushed to a hospital by his wife and neighbors but was declared dead upon arrival. Whitefield police have formed four teams to locate the two suspects, who fled the scene following the attack. Investigators are also exploring other potential motives, such as personal enmity or property-related conflicts.
