Bengaluru engineer kills wife and dies by suicide after dispute
A domestic dispute in the Hegganahalli area of Bengaluru resulted in the death of a married couple. Sumant Jain, a 32-year-old civil engineer, allegedly assaulted and suffocated his wife, 29-year-old software professional Padmavathi, with a pillow following an argument at their rented residence in Rajeshwari Nagar.
According to police investigations, Jain sent a WhatsApp voice message to his mother shortly before the incident. In the message, he reportedly mentioned an argument regarding property ownership, stating, “This house is mine,” and expressed his intention to end his life. After the assault, Jain allegedly realized his wife was not breathing and subsequently committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan.
The couple had been married for approximately four years. The Rajagopal Nagar police have registered a case and are awaiting post-mortem reports to confirm the exact cause of death and the sequence of events.
