Bengaluru reports kidnapping and acid attack incidents

Two separate violent incidents involving women have been reported in Bengaluru.

In the first case, a 21-year-old woman named Pooja was allegedly kidnapped from her residence in Agrahara Dasarahalli by individuals reportedly sent by her family due to opposition to her inter-caste marriage. During a high-speed pursuit by local residents, the getaway vehicle struck dozens of vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers, leaving six people injured. Three suspects—Rakesh, Karan, and Ayan—have been arrested, while the driver, Saddam, remains at large.

In a second incident, a 26-year-old nurse named Madhumita was critically injured in J.P. Nagar after her estranged husband, Venkateshan, allegedly attacked her in public. The assailant reportedly threw floor cleaner acid at her and struck her multiple times with a machete and a knife. Police believe the attack was motivated by a family dispute. The suspect was taken into custody by traffic police following the assault.
