Karnataka police officers face alleged assaults and verbal abuse

Two separate incidents of alleged assault and verbal abuse against female police officers have been reported in Karnataka, India.

In Bengaluru, Traffic Sub-Inspector Nayana was reportedly manhandled and body-shamed while performing duties near Bhattarahalli Junction. The victim alleged that Hemanth Reddy, who identified himself as a lawyer, pulled her hand and used derogatory remarks regarding her physical appearance. Four individuals—Hemanth Reddy, Harshith Reddy, Rahul, and Radhakrishna Reddy—have been booked following the incident. The complaint also noted threats to circulate unauthorized photos and videos of the officer on social media.

In a separate incident in Srirangapatna, Aishwarya, the daughter of Tumakuru Rural BJP MLA B. Suresh Gowda, was booked for assaulting a woman Police Sub-Inspector at the Aarathi Ukkada temple. The altercation occurred when the officer prevented the accused from entering the sanctum sanctorum due to heavy crowds. The MLA issued a public apology, stating that while his daughter may have lost patience, such behavior in public life is inappropriate.
