Bengaluru police rescue 13 children from begging racket

The CCB Women Protection Wing in Bengaluru conducted a joint operation with the Social Welfare Department to dismantle a begging racket. On October 12, authorities rescued 13 minor children who were allegedly being forced to beg at traffic signals across the city to generate income.

During the operation, which targeted makeshift huts near the Kogilu Cross flyover under the Yelahanka Police Station limits, police arrested four individuals from outside the state. Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to holding the children and forcing them into begging. The suspects have been handed over to the Yelahanka Police Station for legal proceedings, while the children were placed under the care of the Child Welfare Committee to facilitate efforts to locate their biological parents.
