Bengaluru tech professionals spark debate over salary and career growth
Social media discussions regarding tech salaries and financial management have gained traction following posts from professionals in India. One Bengaluru-based tech worker, Shashank Dixit, sparked a debate on X by describing a monthly salary of ₹2 lakh as a “dangerous number.” Dixit argued that such an income provides enough comfort to satisfy parents and enjoy weekends, but may simultaneously discourage individuals from taking professional risks or pursuing higher ambitions, potentially turning a salary into a permanent comfort zone.
In a separate discussion, a 21-year-old remote tech professional earning ₹30 lakh per annum shared a dilemma on Reddit regarding living expenses. The individual is weighing the choice between staying in Bengaluru, where monthly expenses total approximately ₹45,000, or moving back to a hometown in Tamil Nadu. Moving home would reportedly allow the professional to save 90% of their income and assist with clearing family debt.
