Bengaluru Traffic Police restrict vehicles on major flyovers

The Bengaluru Traffic Police have announced new restrictions on several major flyovers and elevated corridors to improve road safety and reduce traffic congestion. The measures target goods vehicles, two-wheelers, passenger autorickshaws, and three-wheeler goods autorickshaws.

Starting September 4, restrictions will apply to the BGS Flyover, Peenya Elevated Corridor, the Double-Decker Flyover between Silk Board and Ragigudda, and the International Airport Road Elevated Corridor. The Electronic City Elevated Corridor will implement its restrictions starting September 11.

The decision follows a review of accidents on these routes. Authorities cited several factors for the move, including flyover design and width, the impact of vehicle breakdowns, congestion at entry and exit points, and the safety of pedestrians and two-wheeler riders. These measures will initially be introduced on a trial basis to allow for impact assessment.
