Bengaluru Vacant Site Owners Ordered to Clear Waste by August 15
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) instructed owners of all vacant sites in Bengaluru to remove garbage, debris and other waste by 15 August 2026. First‑time violators face a fine of ₹25,000, with repeat offences attracting penalties of ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh, and the authority may recover clearance costs along with property tax.
Separately, the Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) filed a police complaint against four individuals who dumped waste at a recently cleaned and beautified blackspot on 7th Main Road, Banaswadi. An FIR was registered under Section 280 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and notices will be issued to the accused. The incident has prompted debate over whether the Karnataka Congress government is relying on punitive action while public dustbins and regular collection remain inadequate.
Both actions reflect a tougher enforcement approach by Bengaluru’s civic administration amid ongoing concerns about insufficient waste‑management infrastructure.
