Bengkalis hosts Kontes Kapal Indonesia 2026 competition

The 2026 Kontes Kapal Indonesia (KKI) has concluded in Bengkalis, Riau. The competition focused on maritime technology and innovation, encouraging the younger generation to strengthen Indonesia's maritime future.

Students from Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis (Polbeng) secured three awards during the event. The Laksamana 3 team earned third place in the Innovation of Design and Construction category, while the Laksamana 1 and Laksamana 10 teams received Best Design honors in the Electric Remote Control and Fuel Engine Remote Control categories, respectively.

A notable aspect of the student innovations is their potential application for border security. Specifically, the Laksamana 10 team designed a high-speed vessel intended to combat illegal activities and smuggling in the Malacca Strait, a strategic shipping lane near Bengkalis.
