Bengkalis police seize 65 kg of methamphetamine smuggled from Malaysia
Police in Bengkalis, Riau, have intercepted a major drug smuggling attempt involving methamphetamine (sabu) originating from Malaysia. The operation, a collaboration between Polsek Bantan and Satresnarkoba Polres Bengkalis, resulted in the seizure of approximately 65 kilograms of methamphetamine packaged in 65 bags.
The interception occurred after authorities received community information regarding narcotics being sent via sea routes to the Bantan district. Officers intercepted a Mitsubishi L300 pickup truck near Jalan Jenderal Sudirman in Bantan Village, which contained four sacks of the drugs. Three suspects, identified by the initials S, ST, and P, were arrested. Authorities believe the narcotics were transported from Malaysia using fishing boats.
Following the initial arrest, investigators expanded their probe to Bengkalis town, where they searched and seized a two-story shop house on Jalan Kelapapati suspected of being used for the storage and packaging of narcotics. Items found at the site included bags, sacks, and plastic packaging used for narcotics. The investigation is ongoing to dismantle the international smuggling network.
