Bengkulu Selatan struck by magnitude 4.6 earthquake

A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck southwest of Bengkulu Selatan on Tuesday morning, August 11, 2026. According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the tremor occurred at 08:12:46 WIB at a depth of 38 kilometers, with the epicenter located approximately 35 kilometers southwest of Bengkulu Selatan at coordinates 4.50 LS and 102.60 BT.

As of the initial report, there is no information regarding specific areas that felt the tremors, nor are there reports of damage or casualties. BMKG noted that the information was released quickly to prioritize speed, meaning data processing may still be subject to change.

Separately, weather forecasts for the Bengkulu Selatan regency indicate predominantly cloudy conditions across 10 of its 11 sub-districts. The Pino Raya sub-district is expected to experience hazy conditions. No significant rainfall is predicted, which is expected to allow local community activities to proceed as planned.
