Beni leaders declare emergency over Mamoré River bridge funding
Civic leaders, local authorities, and productive sectors in the Beni department of Bolivia have declared a state of emergency regarding the construction of a bridge over the Mamoré River. Hugo Aponte Arias, president of the Beni Civic Committee, announced that a deadline of November 18 has been set for the national government to guarantee the necessary financing and an execution schedule for the project.
Regional representatives argue that technical studies are no longer sufficient and that the focus must shift to securing economic backing. The bridge is viewed as a critical component for departmental integration and a starting point for a bioceanic corridor intended to drive regional progress. The proposed infrastructure plan also includes paving roads to Puerto Los Puentes and connecting to San Ignacio de Moxos to improve terrestrial connectivity.
