Beni Mellal-Khenifra officials prepare for winter weather and cold waves

Mohamed Benrabak, the Wali of the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region, chaired a meeting of the provincial vigilance committee to discuss proactive measures for the 2026/2027 winter season. The plan aims to mitigate the impact of extreme cold, rain, and snow, particularly in mountainous areas located above 1,500 meters.

Key measures include deploying mobile medical units and ensuring the availability of essential medicines in health centers. To support education, authorities will provide heating wood and blankets to boarding schools. Additionally, the plan involves distributing livestock feed to farmers and ensuring the steady supply of basic goods to remote areas.

To prevent isolation caused by heavy snowfall, the administration will mobilize human and logistical resources for snow removal and strengthen telecommunications networks. The strategy also includes providing shelter for homeless individuals through social care institutions and facilitating movement for citizens in vulnerable communities.
