Beni Mellal-Khénifra officials coordinate 2026-2027 school year preparations

Mohamed Benrabak, the Wali of the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region, chaired an extensive meeting to coordinate preparations for the 2026-2027 school year. The meeting included officials from the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, as well as local authorities and regional education directors.

Key discussions focused on infrastructure readiness, the expansion of the 'Pioneer Schools' model, and the management of social support programs such as school transport and catering. Officials addressed several challenges, including classroom overcrowding, the need for increased boarding school capacity, and the necessity of improving educational access in remote mountainous areas through new school units and expanded preschool services.

To ensure a smooth start, the Wali ordered the creation of joint monitoring committees to track the school reopening process in real-time. Additional measures include field committees to monitor the availability and pricing of textbooks, increased security patrols around educational institutions, and awareness campaigns to combat school dropout rates. Administrative and teaching staff are scheduled to return to work on September 1, 2026, with students returning gradually starting September 3, and formal classes beginning on September 7, 2026.
