Beni Suef officials review Sayyida Houria Mosque restoration

Officials in Beni Suef met to review the progress of the restoration project for the Sayyida Houria Mosque. The meeting included the Governor of Beni Suef, Major General Abdullah Abdel Aziz, and the Assistant Minister of Awqaf for Engineering Affairs, Major General Dr. Mohamed Nabil Iraqi.

The renovation project involves upgrading infrastructure, utilities, facades, decorations, woodwork, marble, and furniture, as well as modernizing sound and lighting systems. The project aims to preserve the mosque's historical and architectural identity while improving services for worshippers and visitors. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Awqaf, the Beni Suef Governorate, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and the Masaajid Foundation.

Originally established by Muhammad Islam Bey and completed by his son Othman in 1233 AH, the Sayyida Houria Mosque is a significant religious and historical landmark in Beni Suef. It contains a shrine complex including the tomb of Sayyida Houria and wooden structures for the tombs of Sheikh Youssef and Sheikh Saad.
