Beni: CVAR calls for justice and reparations for DRC massacre victims

The Collectif des victimes de l’agression rwandaise (CVAR-ONGDH) held a ceremony in Beni to honor victims of massacres and atrocities committed in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.

During the event, held at the Christian Bilingual University of Congo, the organization called for improved support for survivors, particularly those living with disabilities, and urged for the prosecution of those responsible for crimes against civilians. Innocent Rugero, president of CVAR-ONGDH, stated the goal was to remember the deceased while providing hope to survivors and demanding justice.

Survivors highlighted the need for the state and the National Fund for Victim Reparation (FONAREV) to provide better assistance, including income-generating activities to foster autonomy. The ceremony concluded with a tribute to members of the Pygmy community killed in an attack attributed to the ADF in Ngadi.
