Beniamino Gigli honored in Italian festivals and concerts 2026
Recanati, Italy, will host the 17th edition of the Gigli Opera Festival on 17 August 2026. The programme, titled “La Voce”, links the legacy of tenor Beniamino Gigli with the region’s historic accordion tradition. The open‑air performance will take place in the piazza of the Capuchin convent, a venue that has become the festival’s emblem, and is funded by private donors and local businesses.
In the nearby town of Carbognano, the Tre Spighe band presented a concert beneath Rocca Farnese that paid tribute to Gigli. The event recalled the singer’s 1942 appearance at the inauguration of the Passionist convent and his personal contribution to the installation of the building’s electric lighting. The program featured traditional Italian pieces, including “O Sole Mio”, honoring the celebrated tenor.
