Benicarló completes employment workshop as Andorra increases sports funding

The Benicarló City Council has concluded the ‘Benicarló en Acció’ employment workshop. Funded by Labora and co-financed by the European Union with a subsidy of 565,384.80 euros, the year-long program provided specialized training and paid work experience to 20 unemployed individuals. Participants focused on two tracks: social assistance, including domestic and socio-sanitary care, and cultural and recreational activities.

In Andorra, the Government has announced plans to increase subsidies for sports clubs and federations to 5 million euros by 2027, up from 4 million euros in 2023. Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sports Mònica Bonell stated that resources are being progressively increased to meet sector needs. Additionally, the government intends to create specific subsidies for women's sports by 2027 to encourage participation at the grassroots level. The Minister also noted that high-performance athlete Vicky Jiménez currently receives 150,000 euros annually, a figure that may decrease once she reaches the world top 100 and achieves self-sufficiency.
