Benicàssim increases plastic packaging recycling by 62%

Benicàssim has reported a 62.15% increase in the selective collection of plastic packaging during July 2026 compared to the same month in 2025. Residents deposited 92.56 tons of waste into yellow containers, an increase of 35.48 tons over the previous year.

This growth follows the full installation of a new network of 600 container islands managed by Fobesa. These collection points are distributed throughout the municipality, generally spaced no more than 100 meters apart to facilitate waste separation at the source.

Mayor Susana Marqués stated that the data confirms the municipality is moving toward a more sustainable model aligned with European Union objectives. Environment Councilor Vanessa Batalla noted that the new infrastructure is fostering a real change in recycling habits and announced that new machinery will be fully operational by the end of the year to further improve efficiency.
