Benidorm alerts on new tourist scams and cheap hidden bar

Long‑time resident Michelle Baker, who runs the Benidormforever Facebook page, warned tourists of a new "selfie steal" scam that mostly targets women. Scammers pose for a photo, then grab purses, phones or jewellery once they are close. She also highlighted phone‑theft tactics, such as asking to use Google Maps on an unlocked device, and reminded visitors of the long‑standing "Peamen" cup‑game fraud.

Baker also promoted the recently reopened Bar Rumbo in Benidorm’s Old Town, describing it as a pet‑friendly spot with board games and very low prices – €4.90 for a beer and two tapas, €2.20 for a glass of wine, and €1.50 for a coffee – urging tourists to support small local venues.
