Benidorm Coastal Front Revamp Secures €50 Million Investment

The Generalitat Valenciana has launched a €50 million programme to complete the coastal front of Benidorm. The plan includes a €3.8 million international design competition to select an architectural and landscape proposal for a continuous promenade that will link the entire bay and improve the city‑sea integration.

The investment also aims to avoid the demolition of the 22‑storey Gemini 28 towers, which have been the subject of a long‑running legal dispute. By shifting the shoreline line and extending the promenade, the project creates new public space while sidestepping a costly demolition that was estimated at €140 million. The initiative was announced by Vice‑President and Conseller Vicente Martínez Mus, together with Mayor Toni Pérez and other regional officials, with the winning design expected by early 2027.
