Benidorm increases scooter restrictions in pedestrian zones

The Benidorm City Council has intensified efforts to regulate the use of electric scooters in pedestrian zones. Following reports of frequent infractions and citizen complaints regarding pedestrian safety, local authorities have reinforced vertical signage in high-traffic areas where unauthorized scooter use is most common.

Local Security Councilor Jesús Carrobles stated that the measure aims to improve road safety and prevent risks for both pedestrians and scooter users. In addition to new signage, the Local Police will increase surveillance in sensitive areas. Officers will specifically monitor compliance with mandatory requirements, such as the use of helmets and valid civil liability insurance. To date, the city has issued 1,100 sanctions related to these violations.
