Benidorm loses leadership in Imserso hotel offerings

Benidorm has lost its position as the leading destination for the Imserso vacation program for seniors. The city's presence in the program has declined from 28 hotels to 11 this season, according to the Valencian hotel association, Hosbec.

New leaders in the program include Lloret de Mar with 14 establishments, Puerto de la Cruz in Tenerife with 13, and Salou with 12. Catalonia currently leads the overall ranking with 48 accommodations.

Hotel operators have expressed concerns that the program's economic conditions do not cover rising operational costs, including energy, labor, and raw materials. Despite inflation reaching 4.3% in August, the government has opted to extend the previous year's contract, valued at nearly 60 million euros, for another season.
