Benidorm parasailing accident investigation leads to two suspects

The Guardia Civil has concluded its investigation into a fatal parasailing accident that occurred on August 10 off the coast of Benidorm. The incident resulted in the death of a 66-year-old woman and left a 47-year-old man with serious injuries.

During the tandem parasailing activity, the cable connecting the parachute to the towing boat snapped. The victims were then swept by strong winds and gusts before falling into the sea. Investigators noted that the accident took place during deteriorating weather conditions, including storms and high winds.

Two individuals are now under investigation. One person faces charges of reckless homicide and causing injury, while another is being investigated for alleged concealment. The investigation revealed discrepancies regarding who was operating the vessel; while an employee initially claimed to be the captain, they later identified another worker who was actually at the helm. This second individual possessed the necessary qualifications but was not officially listed as an employee of the company at the time of the accident.
