Benidorm parasailing accident investigation leads to two suspects

The Guardia Civil has concluded its investigation into a fatal parasailing accident that occurred off the coast of Benidorm on August 10. The case has been referred to the Instruction Section of the Benidorm Court for further legal proceedings.

Two individuals are under investigation. One person faces charges of reckless homicide and injury, while another is being investigated for concealment. Investigators determined that the individual piloting the boat during the accident was not officially employed by the company at the time, despite possessing the necessary training. This person had initially been identified as the boat's captain, but authorities clarified that the individual accused of concealment was not the pilot.

The accident occurred around 6:00 PM when the cable connecting the parachute to the boat snapped, causing a 66-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man to be swept away by the wind. The woman later died in the hospital, while the man sustained serious injuries but survived. Investigators noted that the incident took place during deteriorating weather conditions, including storms and strong wind gusts.
