Benidorm parasailing accident kills British tourist

A British tourist has died following a parasailing accident off the coast of Benidorm, Spain. The victim, identified as a 66-year-old woman, succumbed to injuries after her parachute reportedly lost control and crashed into the rocks in the Rincón de Loix area.

The incident occurred on Monday evening during a sudden and severe change in weather conditions. Witnesses reported that a strong gust of wind caused the tow line connecting the parachute to the boat to snap. The couple was then carried uncontrollably by the wind toward the coastline. While emergency responders managed to briefly revive the woman after she suffered cardiac arrest, she later died at the hospital.

A 47-year-old man, believed to be her husband, survived the crash but sustained multiple injuries, including broken ribs. The Guardia Civil has launched an investigation to determine whether the accident was caused by equipment failure, such as the breakage of the eight-millimeter tow line, or the rapidly deteriorating weather conditions, which had prompted a red flag warning for swimmers in the area.
