Benidorm unblocks development of 3,000 homes in El Murtal

The Benidorm City Council has unanimously approved the removal of Prometosa Construcciones as the urban development agent for the PAU-1 Murtal sector. This decision aims to unblock a major urban development project that has been stalled for over twenty years due to legal disputes and administrative delays.

The Murtal sector spans approximately 900,000 square meters in the Poniente area and is expected to provide nearly 3,000 new homes, along with necessary infrastructure and public spaces. As Benidorm faces significant pressure on residential housing prices and has limited remaining urbanizable land, the development of this site is considered a critical reserve for future growth.

While the removal of the previous agent allows for a new stage of development, the project must still undergo further planning and development phases before construction can commence. Existing planning and reparceling instruments remain in effect to serve the general interest.
