Benidorm woman faces prison for allegedly cutting worker's safety rope
Prosecutors in Alicante are seeking a six-year prison sentence for a woman accused of attempting to murder a maintenance worker in Benidorm. The incident occurred on January 20, 2021, while the victim was performing facade repairs on a residential building.
According to the Public Prosecution Service, the defendant used a sharp object to sever one of the worker's safety ropes while he was suspended between the 12th and 13th floors. Prosecutors allege she attempted to cut a second line, but the tragedy was averted when shouts from colleagues intervened. The worker was forced to cling to a building ledge to avoid falling. The case is being heard at the Alicante Provincial Court.
