Benin and Burkina Faso Crown Handball Champions

In Benin, the NSIA Banque Coupe de l’Indépendance 2026 concluded on 1 August at the Hall des Arts in Cotonou. The men’s title returned to Djougou, which edged Parakou 28‑27, while Lokossa secured the women’s gold by beating Porto‑Novo 29‑28. Glazoué took bronze in the women’s competition and Lokossa earned bronze among the men.

In Burkina Faso, the national handball championships wrapped up on the same day at the Palais des Sports de Ouaga 2000. LONAB HBC captured its sixth senior women’s title with a 25‑23 win over AS Finances, and AS DOUANES claimed the senior men’s championship after defeating Fanos HBC. Both winners received medals and cash prizes, and the events serve as preparation for the national teams ahead of upcoming international competitions.
