Benin and Côte d'Ivoire communes ready for 66th independence celebrations
In the run‑up to the 66th anniversary of national independence, the commune of Kétou in Benin is organising a cultural evening called “Nuit de l’Indépendance”. The event, slated for 31 July, aims to showcase local artists, strengthen community identity and promote the town’s cultural heritage.
Meanwhile, the Yopougon district of Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, is carrying out extensive water, sanitation and public‑works upgrades ahead of the national independence festivities on 7 August. Officials expect more than 500 000 visitors and have installed 23 potable‑water points and other infrastructure to ensure health and safety during the celebrations.
