Benin-Asaba Expressway: BAECC to accelerate 125km highway construction

The Benin-Asaba Expressway Concession Company Limited (BAECC) has announced plans to accelerate construction on the 125-kilometre highway following the conclusion of the rainy season.

Samuel Daramola, CEO of BAECC, requested patience from motorists and local communities, acknowledging the inconveniences caused by the ongoing reconstruction. He stated that the company is committed to maintaining traffic flow while working to deliver the permanent road. The project is being executed under a 36-month construction programme and involves extensive expansion, earthworks, drainage systems, and pavement construction.

BAECC reported that substantial progress has already been made in areas such as subgrade preparation, culvert construction, and carriageway expansion. The company has also mobilized various specialized equipment, including asphalt and concrete batching plants. According to the company, billions of naira in private-sector resources have been dedicated to the project's logistics, materials, and infrastructure.
