Benin digitizes public services with new police and finance platforms
The government of Benin is advancing its digital transformation strategy through the implementation of new administrative platforms designed to modernize public services and enhance financial accountability.
The Republican Police have digitized the process for obtaining loss certificates. While citizens must still physically report lost documents, such as identity cards or driver's licenses, at a police station, the actual issuance of the certificate is now handled online via the Centre de documentation de Sécurité publique (CDSP) platform. This system aims to reduce wait times at police stations and improve security by centralizing data and facilitating automated reporting to international networks like Interpol.
Additionally, the Ministry of Economy and Finance has launched SEMO+, a mobile application representing the third phase of the Official Mission Supervision System. The platform requires public officials on official business to use geolocation to validate their presence at mission sites. This measure is intended to prevent fictitious missions, ensure accountability, and sanitize public finances by preventing payments for unperformed days.
