Benin launches new university bus service across 12 cities
Benin has launched a new university transport service covering 12 cities to assist students at the country’s four public universities: the University of Abomey-Calavi, the University of Parakou, the National University of Agriculture in Kétou, and the National University of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in Abomey.
The initiative utilizes a fleet of 63 new buses managed by La Poste du Bénin. The service covers routes including Abomey-Calavi, Cotonou, Porto-Novo, Dangbo, Adjarra, Abomey, Dassa-Zoumè, Lokossa, Natitingou, Sakété, Kétou, and Parakou. A single trip is priced at 200 FCFA, with round trips costing 400 FCFA.
The system is digitized through the UnivServices.bj platform, where students use their Personal Identification Number (NPI) to purchase tickets. While the digital transition aims to improve traceability and monitoring via QR codes, questions remain regarding the policy for unused tickets, specifically whether they can be refunded, transferred, or used on different dates.
