Benin municipalities announce major infrastructure and heritage projects
Municipalities in Benin are advancing local development and heritage projects for the 2027-2029 period. In Abomey-Calavi, officials have presented a multi-year budget programming document valued at over 8 billion CFA francs. The planned investments prioritize schools, markets, health centers, and communal roads, alongside improvements to public lighting and security infrastructure.
In Parakou, the municipal council has announced modernization plans for the Hubert Maga square, a symbol of Benin's independence. The project, supported by over 25 million CFA francs from FADEC funds, aims to boost local tourism. Additionally, authorities will begin restoration work on the statue of Hubert Maga, the first president of Dahomey, to preserve the historical monument from weather-related deterioration.
