Benin-Sapele Road rehabilitation resumes in Edo State
Contractors have resumed work on the Benin-Sapele Road following a temporary halt caused by heavy rainfall. Workers and machinery returned to the site on Thursday to continue the rehabilitation process.
According to Benjamin Danjuma, Foreman of the Earth Moving Section, the project is currently at the first level of the stone-base stage, which serves as part of the road foundation. Following this, crews will proceed to the stabilization stage using stone base and cement before laying the final concrete layer.
Governor Monday Okpebholo had previously stated that contractors managing road projects across the three senatorial districts would return to their sites once the rains subsided. Local residents, traders, and motorists have expressed relief, noting that the previous condition of the road had negatively impacted business and movement.
