Benin wins African AirBadminton titles and qualifies for 2026 World Championships

Benin achieved significant success at the African AirBadminton Championships held in Entebbe, Uganda. The nation secured a continental title in the men's triples category with a 3-0 victory over Mauritius. This performance follows a narrow second-place finish in the Team Relay event, where Benin lost 60-57 to Egypt.

These results have earned Benin a historic qualification for the 2026 BWF AirBadminton World Championships. The tournament, which featured 14 countries and over 120 athletes, highlighted the rising competitiveness of West African nations in this emerging outdoor discipline.

In contrast, the Algerian national team saw its run in the Team Relay competition end in the quarterfinals following a 53-60 defeat against Burkina Faso. Algeria had previously secured qualification for the quarterfinals after finishing second in their group with a win over Tunisia and a loss to Benin.
