The Benin U-16 handball team has entered its final preparation phase for the 2026 Nantes International Handball Cup (NIHC). Following an initial training camp in Parakou, technical staff led by Babatchene Barry have selected a definitive squad of 14 players. The group is undergoing a nine-day intensive training camp from August 11 to August 19 to improve collective cohesion and tactical execution before departing for Nantes on August 21.

In basketball, Senegal has advanced to the semi-finals of the Afrobasket U18 after defeating Madagascar 54-40 in the quarter-finals held in Treichville, Côte d’Ivoire. Despite a strong tactical response from Madagascar in the first half that kept the score close at halftime (21-23), Senegal's defensive pressure in the third quarter proved decisive. Madagascar struggled with turnovers and scoring, allowing Senegal to secure the victory and end the Madagascar team's tournament run.
