Beninese filmmakers graduate from KAP-SOPA bootcamp

Twenty Beninese filmmakers have graduated from the 12-week KAP-SOPA Pan-African Filmmaking Bootcamp. The program was a partnership between the KAP Film and Television Academy and the Government of the Republic of Benin through its audiovisual agency, SOPA.

During the graduation ceremony held at the KAP Film Village and Resort in Oyo State, Nigeria, Chioma Ude, the founder and Executive Director of the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), announced that two of the three short films produced during the bootcamp will be screened in the Students’ Film category at the next edition of AFRIFF. This provides the graduates with professional exposure to international filmmakers, producers, and distributors.

The bootcamp combined theoretical instruction in Cotonou, Benin, with practical production and mentorship in Nigeria. The event also saw the unveiling of ITAN, The Screen Gathering and Awards, a new platform introduced by KAP Group founder Kunle Afolayan.
