Benito Juárez Council advances administrative and urban reforms

The Benito Juárez City Council in Cancún has approved several initiatives to modernize municipal administration and address urban safety. The council voted to send proposals to commissions aimed at reforming the Municipal Institute for Administrative Development and Innovation (IMDAI). These reforms seek to update the institute's structure and align its functions with the National Law to Eliminate Bureaucratic Procedures by establishing a Municipal Authority for Simplification and Digitalization.

Additionally, the council moved forward with a proposal for a new regulation regarding properties in states of abandonment, risk, or deterioration. This regulation would create a formal procedure to identify, register, and classify such buildings to facilitate official intervention and improve urban order.

In other administrative matters, the council unanimously approved a second 44-day leave of absence for municipal president Ana Paty Peralta, effective from August 9.
