Mexican municipalities distribute school supplies to support families

Various municipal governments in Mexico are implementing social programs to support families ahead of the new school year.

In the Benito Juárez borough, Mayor Luis Mendoza’s administration launched the ‘Regreso a Clases BJ 2026’ initiative. With an investment of approximately 2.45 million pesos, the program distributed 1,431 school kits to primary and secondary students in public schools. Each kit contains 16 essential items, including backpacks, notebooks, calculators, and geometry sets, aimed at reducing the economic burden on families and preventing school dropout. To ensure safety during the return to classes, the administration also activated the ‘Blindar BJ 360°’ surveillance device.

Similarly, in Villa de Pozos, Council President Paty Aradillas led the distribution of school supplies to children in the Las Águilas area. Supported by the Secretariat of Social and Regional Development (Sedesore), the program targets primary and secondary students to assist families with the costs associated with the start of the academic cycle.
