Benjamin Asare to receive $38,000 vehicle for World Cup performance

Ghanaian goalkeeper Benjamin Asare is set to receive a JAC Motors vehicle valued at $38,000 in recognition of his performance during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The announcement was made by Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku during the association’s 32nd Ordinary Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

Asare, a Hearts of Oak player, was the only locally based athlete included in Ghana’s 26-man World Cup squad. He achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first locally based goalkeeper to start a World Cup match for the Black Stars. During the tournament, Asare appeared in two matches and maintained clean sheets in both, including a notable goalless draw against England.

His success is viewed as a significant achievement for domestic football, demonstrating that players from the Ghana Premier League can compete at the highest international level.
